Visual Aids for Picking

Picking operations in a busy warehouse can be challenging, especially when handling similar products or crowded trays. Identifying the correct item quickly and accurately often takes extra time, leading to inefficiencies.

Visual aids are designed to simplify and accelerate picking and depositing tasks. These tools provide clear visual cues, guiding operators to the precise location of the requested item. By reducing errors and displaying additional information, such as quantities to be picked, these aids enhance accuracy and productivity.

By incorporating visual aids, companies can significantly optimize time, doubling picking efficiency while ensuring a straightforward and effective workflow.

LED Bar

The LED bar is a horizontal visual device installed at the top of the operator bay for clear visibility. It enhances picking accuracy by lighting up specific segments, guiding the operator to the exact section of the tray required for the task.

Aligned with the tray's width (X-axis), the LED bar pinpoints the precise location of the operation, helping operators quickly identify the correct compartment. This reduces errors and saves time, particularly when working with dense or crowded trays containing similar items.

One key advantage is that the LEDs illuminate the center of the required compartment, ensuring quick and intuitive identification. The number of lit LEDs is customizable based on the tray's length, with a resolution of 10 mm, offering tailored precision.

The LED bar spans the full width of the tray, with minimal interruption at its ends. Its length varies depending on the Modula model, providing seamless coverage for efficient and accurate picking operations.

Alphanumeric LED bar

Building on the functionality of the LED bar, the alphanumeric bar adds another layer of efficiency and detail to picking tasks.

In addition to indicating the position of an item along the tray’s X-axis, the alphanumeric bar provides valuable information, including:

  • Quantity to be picked
  • Item details such as codes and descriptions
  • Position on the Y-axis (depth) within the compartment relative to the tray's width

These coordinates and details are seamlessly managed by Modula WMS and are also displayed on the Copilot picking screen for added clarity.

The content displayed on the alphanumeric bar can be customized to show information in text or numeric formats, ensuring operators have all necessary details for efficient and accurate picking.

Laser Pointer for Accurate Picking

The laser pointer is a highly effective option for guiding operators during picking tasks. It uses a red holographic line to mark the position along the X-axis (width) and a green dot to indicate the Y-axis (depth), precisely identifying the required item's location.

The green dot appears at the center of the target tray compartment, using the tray’s side walls or risers (if present) as reference points. The laser activates when the pointer aligns with the correct position and remains on until the task is complete, ensuring clarity and reducing errors.

As with other visual aids, position coordinates and related information are managed by Modula WMS and displayed on the Copilot picking screen for seamless operation.
