Modula Anti-Seismic

Modula’s approach to creating a safe warehouse combines anti-seismic solutions with seismic isolation. The former reinforces the warehouse structure, while the latter isolates it from the energy produced by seismic acceleration.

Rather than making the structure excessively rigid and heavy, Modula focused on analyzing seismic movement and its effects, especially the horizontal component of peak ground acceleration (PGA).

The seismic isolator device only activates during an earthquake and does not interfere with the normal operation of the warehouse in non-seismic conditions.

Calculations and simulations for Modula’s anti-seismic systems were validated through testing at Pavia’s Eucentre Foundation, the European benchmark for earthquake risk research and training.

Modula Anti-Seismic: Over 1 G Performance

Tests demonstrated that the warehouse structure successfully withstood horizontal accelerations exceeding 1 G:

  • No damage to the warehouse.
  • No damage to the trays.
  • Minimal movement of the trays, which remained securely on their supporting shelves.
  • Resumption of normal operations without disruption.

This exceptional performance highlights Modula's commitment to providing reliable and resilient storage solutions in seismic conditions.
