Bay Options

Bay accessories are essential components that are physically integrated into the bay, either through their position or function. These accessories play a vital role in improving operator safety by preventing access to trays when the machine is off and reducing the risk of contact with hazardous materials.

Moreover, they enhance ergonomics by making controls more accessible and simplifying tray extraction, resulting in better material handling. A key accessory we strongly recommend is the automatic door, which helps ensure the preservation of stored materials by protecting them from external elements.

Automatic Door

The automatic door is designed to enhance both the safety and aesthetics of the Modula automatic warehouse. When the desired tray is brought into the bay, the rear of the machine exposes the interior of the warehouse at the height of the warehouse mouth. The automatic door closes the bay, ensuring materials are protected when the machine is off or unattended.

This motorized device is positioned behind the picking bay, with a single panel as wide as the bay. The door is operated by an asynchronous motor controlled by an inverter, and transmission occurs via two belts placed on either side of the door to prevent imbalances during operation. The door’s status (open or closed) is monitored by two microswitches activated by cams that signal the control unit.

Benefits of the Automatic Door:

  • Increased safety for stored materials, as they are not accessible when the machine is off or unattended
  • Reduced noise, improving comfort for operators
  • Minimizes the entry of external pollutants into the machine
  • Ensures cleaner stored materials
  • Reduces heat exchanges and thermal fluctuations inside the machine

Trolley

For operations that require moving an entire tray during the picking phase, the trolley offers an efficient solution. This accessory allows the operator to fully extract a tray from the Modula machine and transfer it to a trolley, enabling easy transport to other areas within the production facility or building.

The trolley is designed to transport one tray at a time, though multiple trays can be extracted in consecutive operations. To facilitate this, a connection with the Modula WMS warehouse management software is required.

The trolley is compatible with multiple machines, provided that:

  • The weight capacity does not exceed 500 kg
  • The bay is appropriately prepared
  • The tray width remains consistent across machines

Telescopic Bay

For operators who need to extract heavy trays but cannot do so alone, the telescopic bay offers a practical solution. This accessory is designed for Modula automatic vertical warehouses with internal bays, enabling easier manual tray extraction.

When the tray arrives in the bay, the telescopic bay allows it to be pulled out using two telescopic guides positioned on either side of the tray. The operator can unlock and pull the tray outwards using a special handle, making it easier to manage heavy materials. The operator can also use lifting systems to assist in handling the tray.

For Modula vertical warehouses with tray capacities of 500, 750, or 990 kg, support feet with wheels are included to help move heavy loads. However, this version cannot be installed in high bay configurations due to the distance between the machine and the operator’s parking area.

Sliding Console

During picking operations, operators use the Copilot console to confirm actions, search for items, or work with trays. By default, the Copilot is positioned on the left side of the Modula automatic warehouse at an ergonomic height.

For longer trays or intensive picking tasks that require multiple items, the sliding console offers enhanced flexibility. This option allows the operator to move the console along the full length of the bay, enabling them to confirm picking operations directly at the point of activity.

The sliding console helps save time by reducing unnecessary movement, boosting both picking speed and efficiency, while improving operator ergonomics.

External Bay Lighting

For improved visibility in the picking area of the Modula warehouse, an LED lighting system can be installed above the bay. This system ensures optimal lighting when the operator needs it most.

The lighting activates in two scenarios:

  • When the tray is in the picking area
  • When the Modula system is turned on

The lights will turn on as the tray arrives in the bay, providing the operator with better clarity during picking operations. The lighting duration can also be adjusted based on specific needs, ensuring flexibility and efficiency.

Magnetic Interlocking Device

The Magnetic Interlocking Device is ideal for applications where the Modula Lift interfaces with robotic systems, such as AGVs and robots. This system ensures the stability of trays during picking and replenishment operations.

The device features two electromagnets placed on dedicated supports in the bay area, with counterpart plates fixed to the side of each tray. When a tray enters the bay, the electromagnets are activated automatically, securing the tray by attracting the counterpart plates.

Once the operation is completed, the electromagnets deactivate, allowing the tray to be retrieved. This device can be installed on both internal and external bays, providing a secure and efficient solution for automated operations.
