High-Density Storage for Demanding Logistics

VEGA Group, a dynamic player in the logistics and distribution sector, faced the challenge of accommodating rapidly growing inventory within an existing warehouse. To maintain fast order turnaround and operational flow, they required a storage solution that could hold over 5,000 pallets without expanding the building footprint. Dunav SRD delivered a complete conventional pallet racking installation, based on Mecalux racking, that turned their warehouse into a high‑performance storage hub.

Adapting to Volume and Speed

With a constantly changing mix of palletized goods, VEGA Group needed not only raw capacity but also total selectivity – every pallet had to be directly accessible for reach truck picking. The goal was clear: install a system that could store 5,022 pallet positions, support fast, precise handling, and do it all within a tight 45‑day deadline, while the warehouse remained fully active.

The Challenge

The project’s core demand was integrating a high‑density racking layout into a live operation. Reach trucks would be the sole handling equipment, so aisle widths, clearances, and picking ergonomics had to be flawless. Additionally, given the sheer scale and heavy daily traffic, the safety system had to be comprehensive, protecting both personnel and the racking structure itself.

Mecalux Conventional Pallet Racking Solution

We designed and installed a Mecalux conventional pallet racking configuration covering 3,100 m² of floor space. The system provides 5,022 pallet positions, each rated for a load of 550 kg, allowing the storage of a broad range of products without compromise.

The layout was engineered specifically for reach truck operation, ensuring fast aisle entry, efficient pallet put‑away, and retrieval. Every structural element was selected to withstand the rigors of continuous mechanical handling.

A full safety package was integrated throughout the installation:

  • Upright protectors and frame protectors at all traffic‑exposed columns,

  • Load stoppers at every beam level to prevent pallets from being pushed through,

  • Safety mesh nets in all pedestrian and truck aisles beneath the racking, preventing falling objects and enhancing warehouse safety.
